On The Many Faces of Charcoal

I have just completed the charcoal drawing class The Many Faces of Charcoal with Juna and I can honestly say that it has been the best online art course I have taken to date.
Juna has a very professional approach, is very kind and gentle in her manner and also very respectful of everyone, regardless of where they are on their artistic journey.
I have been painting watercolour portraits for a number of years but in this course I learned techniques I had never learned before and will be able to take them into my future work.
She also simplified the portrait drawing process and I particularly liked not having to get a likeness to any reference photos we used, they were for inspiration only.

Painting with charcoal (both wet and dry) was a new experience, as was the use of the tombow mono eraser. What a magic little tool that is!
I loved the layering of charcoal and gesso, working on a textured background, scribbling with the charcoal pencil! I loved it all, so hard to pick a favourite method.

Each project is preceded by an exercise and it really is worthwhile to watch and listen to everything Juna does and says, there are some real gems and wonderful teaching as she draws or paints the project herself.

The quality feedback is also another bonus and something I haven’t experienced before.

I believe that this course is excellent value and I am excited to carry on working in charcoal and other mediums with the new skills I have gained.

I highly recommend it, it really is worthwhile.
