I just completed The Many Faces of Charcoal. I loved it!!
Juna is an exceptional teacher. She is kind and generous and emphasizes being free and having fun when drawing. Her reference photos are used for inspiration only, rather than creating a likeness. This cuts down anxiety and its exciting to see a face emerge. Juna also considers the many aspects of on-line teaching, from camera angle when teaching, to supply lists, to sharing on Facebook.
I have experience working with charcoal; it is my favorite medium. But I learned so much in this class. My drawing style changed completely. Juna taught me to build up charcoal, so my pieces have so much more depth. I also learned to use charcoal in variety of ways, with paintbrushes or tomboy erasers or with make-up sponges and charcoal powder. My favorite project was charcoal powder with water and gesso. It created great texture!
If you are interested in charcoal portraits, this is the class for you! Advanced or beginner you will develop many skills!
